A: For large orders of one shade, continuous dyeing generally gives better batch-to-batch consistency because the machine conditions (temperature, chemical concentrations, speed) are held constant throughout the run. Batch dyeing requires precise replication of the dye recipe and conditions for each new batch, which introduces more opportunities for slight variation. For orders above 10,000 metres of one shade, continuous dyeing is preferred.
Q: How do you match colours to a Pantone reference or a physical swatch?
A: The process starts with a lab dip — a small 50–100g swatch dyed to match the reference under controlled conditions. Colour accuracy is assessed visually in a light booth (D65 daylight and TL84 retail light sources) and confirmed with a spectrophotometer measuring Delta-E values. A Delta-E below 1.0 is considered an excellent match; below 2.0 is commercially acceptable. Only when the lab dip is approved does bulk dyeing begin.
